I am thinking a lot about (anti)promotion and (anti)marketing for designer and artist. There is always the (very real) fear that money and especially earning a living is actually compromising your work. Arg! What a stereotyp! So “Fuck the money”, Gosh I didn`t write that. I am a well educated child of middle class suburbia. I wouldn`t write something like that. There is a lot to think about these three words. They are the contradiction to middle class paucity of ideas.
You don`t have to take the money.
You don`t have to take this job in advertising.
You don`t have to lease this car.
You don`t have to buy this house and pay that mortgage.
You don`t have to have existential fear.
You don`t even have to marry this guy (that girl) and have his (her) children.
You don`t have to pretend that you are happy every day of your life!
On the other side it is totally okay if you do, you just don`t have to…
