December 20th, 2007 by sissT
It is done ^_^… The 6th edition of design a calendar is out! Feel free to preview, download and print. This year’s topic is time stretch. The 5 organiser went to find 52 participants and gathered 52 designs. I sent out invitations to some of my flickr contacts and the response was just great!
So many thanks to “my” group of participants:
Yara Kono . Lisbon. Portugal
Chez Meb . Montréal, Canada
hannah sheffield . hertford, uk
Maicen . Mjondalen. Norway
Tanja Israel. Zillertal. Austria
Sara Harvey . Kansas City, United States
Hans Kraeling aachen, germany
Sasha Solovjova, Vilnius, Lithuania

TIME STRETCH
Do you sometimes have the urge to make time stretch? To expand beyond its natural limits? But how is it done, tried or perceived? With this year’s theme we tackle the challenge of deceleration. It is a challenge indeed and it goes without saying: deceleration, requires acceleration. Without it, we even would not realise that an incident had passed by more ‘slowly’, more intensely. It heavily depends on its counterpart. However: acceleration, velocity, speed - you name it - seems to be the all-encompassing development these days. It is routine at it’s best and therefore hard to escape.
To create a distortion between felt and real time is the key: it allows for a variety of extraordinary encounters, dreams, bliss or bore; whatever it is, it manages to escape the linearity of the everyday. This is what we are after. That is what we focused on and collected diverse and beautiful takes on the theme. They are put together in the unifying format of this calendar and are to be discovered throughout 2008. By ‘ doing the time stretch’ together we all ventured out and compiled a map of peculiarities, exploring the notion of how time can be stretched & squeezed, what deceleration can be, how it is understood, lived or felt. Take your time. Enjoy.
Thanks to all.
THE CORE TEAM
For the 6th time we thought it worthwhile to bring another marvellous assemblage of illustrated ideas together which form the calendar 2008.
In order to make it real, a few people were involved to do the background work:
Robert – lives in and enjoys Paris
Stefan – completed his LA/Munich loop, took him 7 years
Phyl - perseveres happily in London
An - back to Munich, after a decade
Gerlinde & Martin - hold their base in Graz, AT
Heike - dwells in the web and Wellington,NZ
Design-a-calendar is a cooperative project. It is an initiative to collect witty insight and creative output for each week of the year 2008.

thanks again this year for the calender… but pleeeeease would someone give some love to the project-page? (looks like it has been done for the first-edition and then only the content has been changed - 6 years… even without deceleration this is a long time for this young medium).
And “please baby baby please” give us a preview! The smallest download is 33mb… even with high-speed internet this makes for a coffee-break…
Something technical… In OSX with Preview(-application) only part of the content is shown sometimes. This is a “known issue” with big file-sizes but who of your ordinary downloaders will know about this? Consider a warning…
And… last year there has been a flash-version… no more?
(p.s: would now someone else praise in a comment the calendar-project? mine sounds way to negative for this beauty full idea)

I know and I agree, we just ran out of time (like every year). But some progress is made ^_^:
I added the warning. The pdfs are fine if you download the adobe reader.
Preview is added as well.
Desktop widget is a licensing problem. We try to get the 399$ together…
