Terrible Yellow Eyes, May 1, 2009 – January 1, 2010

Really sorry that I missed this!

The project called ‘Terrible Yellow Eyes’ is a collection of Illustrations and Artwork inspired by ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘ the famous picture book by Maurise Sendak. Cory Godbey a Artist and Illustrator based in South Carolina, USA, was able to gather some really astonishing  pieces from some of my favorite Artist.

Have a look at the project on the ‘Terrible Yellow Eyes’ website.

These are my favorites:

Os Gemeos, São Paulo, Brazil – Work in Progress on Youtube

Find of the day: The famous Brazilian streetart twins in action. Love to see their drawing techniques. I first saw their work in a book on Streetart in Brazil ‘Graffiti Brasil’ by Lost Art, Caleb Neelon, and Tristan Manco (also available in the Wellington City Library ^_^…).

If you would like to see more images visit the Os Gemeos group on Flickr.

Hedgehog in the Fog 1975 , Yuriy Norshteyn, Moscow, Russia

Hedgehog in the Fog (Russian: Ёжик в тумане, Yozhik v tumane) is a 1975 Soviet animated film directed by Yuriy Norshteyn, produced by the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow.

The little Hedgehog get side tracked in the fog on his way to meet the bear.
I can’t believe that I only discovered it today. Reminds me a bit of Zdeněk Miler’s ‘Little Mole’ from my childhood.

“Come,
Venture into a tale of fantasy;
Where mysteries unfold,
Illusions take hold,
Explore hidden meanings, trapped beauty,
In the depths of Escape…”

Otherworldly illustration, illusionary photography, fairytale fashion and whimsical jewellery meet in a dynamic exhibition. Escapism, fantasy and an inclination towards teleportation coexist in Woven tales of Ink, Silver and Silk – an exciting
showcase of new work by four Wellington-based artists: Minu, Mairi, Sarah Dalley, Sophie Lewis-Smith.
