Streetart in Melbourne – Part Two

On my second day in Melbourne I decide to just stroll around rather than having a plan :-)… funnily enough this way I stumbled upon the well known Blender Gallery and Studios who organise street art tours guided by artists. For now I am content strolling to the city on my own, but if you do not have much time this might be a very good idea. They seem to be really nice www.melbournestreettours.com.

Melbourne Day 1 - Streetart

The Union Lane Project is part of Melbourne’s Laneway Commissions project. Beginning in 2002, the Laneway Commissions temporarily transform Melbourne’s lanes into public art galleries.
My images are taken today almost 2 years after the event. The project is (partly) documented under http://beyondthecctv.blogspot.com/.

The Viech got a great T-shirt from The Robinz and I promised myself again that I get one of the Ugly Dolls on Secret Mission the day I get my work permit.

But there is a lot of other stuff. My favourites of the day:

plush by muju, UK

So – as I mentioned ^_^ – the way let from Julie Wests Flickr-set to muju plush toys. Mr Muju and Mrs Muju together with King Tubby are doing some magic! You have to have a look at their creations. Based on the same pattern, the toys are coming in a variety of great fabrics, prints and colors.

screenprinted bag by Lucha

Thumbnail

I found this bag by Lucha @ etsy! Lucha is run by two artists – Christina and Ronnie – in Miami. I love this crossover between these great street-art-like illustrations with this almost old-fashioned style bag pattern. Have a look at their other items in their shop too!
